You Have to Be a Sinner
If you want to be saved, you have to be a sinner. I realize that what I just said can be taken wrongly, but I imagine that a number people don’t get this rightly. Jesus really did come to save the sick and the sinners.

Do I really have to be?
Good grief!
Can’t I instead be a tree?
But perhaps that’s a good start to a country song, along the lines of “dig a little deeper in the well, boys, dig a little deeper in the well. If you want a good and cool drink of water, you got to dig a little deeper in the well.”

Sure you could, but you would have to be the tree from which came the wood that formed the cross upon which Christ died, coz in one way or another, we are all responsible for his death.

Anthony,
I don’t know why, but this very brief post of yours has really struck me. I think one of the most pivotal moments in my walk was when I finally saw myself as responsible for Christ’s death and not just the recipient of His grace. It was as if, for the very first time, I could sing that old hymn, “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us” and the words meant more than they ever had before.
“Behold the Man upon a cross
My guilt upon His shoulders
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers”
I remember how amazed and horrified I felt that I could be a believer for as long as I have while steadfastly avoiding the penetrating gaze of my savior.
