Accepting the presupposition that Jesus is truly God then yes, we have quite literally wounded God's hands, and yet he still offers it to us in help. I realize that historically it was a couple of Roman soldiers who drove the nails through, but the Gospel message is that we are all indicted in that act since those soldiers were no different than any of us and they only did what we are all capable of doing. Also, in a variety of ways we have all done similar things. Particularly if you accept Jesus' words that whatever any of us have done to the least, we have done it unto him. If you have ever hurt anyone in any way, physically, emotionally, spiritually, then you- in the mystery of our relationship to God- have hurt Christ, which means that you too are one who has driven nails through his hands.
